Modern luxury was the name of the game at this stunning New Year’s Eve Wedding at Union Station in Washington, DC! Guided by their planner, Silk & Slate Co., the couple embraced the inherent glamour of New Year’s Eve. To achieve the modern glamour they were looking for, the couple utilized a sleek black and white color palette peppered with pops of emerald, a subtle nod to the winter season. By carefully selecting decor and tabletop rentals, they were able to seamlessly blend contemporary design with classic glamour fitting of a holiday synonymous with glitz, sparkle, and celebration! Gold details added a touch of glamour and elegance, while black accents provided contemporary contrast.
Hitting the Right Note: How to Achieve a Wedding Design That’s Both Timeless and Modern
Union Station’s Presidential Suite was the setting for this couple’s stylish ceremony. In keeping with their classic black and white color palette, rows of black chairs were flanked by elegant white floral arrangements courtesy of Sophie Felts. In addition to giving a nod to the couple’s sense of style, the contemporary design of our Ace Black Chairs provided a nice contrast to the venue’s classic architecture. The result felt both timeless and modern!
Meet Me At Midnight: An Escort Card Display Perfect for New Year’s Eve
As they headed to the reception space, guests were greeted with an escort card display fitting of the holiday! Guests’ seating assignments were calligraphed on a variety of clocks, which the couple displayed on our Hollywood Brass Étagère. The Hollywood’s brass finish offered the perfect touch of glam, and the mix of black, white, and gold featured in the display was perfectly in line with the couple’s luxurious color palette. Plus, the display hinted at the design elements guests would see featured in the reception space!
Mix and Match: The Secret to a Luxurious New Year’s Eve Bash
For their reception in Union Station’s East Hall, the couple mixed rectangular wood tables with slatted bases with square tables covered in glam linens. Tables were paired with a mix of our Ace and Mia dining chairs. Not only were our Alexandria Black Slatted Tables and Capitol White Slatted Tables a perfect match for the couple’s color palette, combined with the chairs they provided a contemporary contrast to some of the more traditional elements featured in the table settings. This helped create a balance between the modern and traditional aesthetics that were featured throughout the night!
Finding the Perfect Balance: Modern and Luxurious Table Settings
Table settings varied from table to table. Our Capitol White Slatted Tables were topped with our luxe Lazare Gold Charger Plates, Sensa Glassware, and Nero Black Flatware. While the gold charger brought the glamour, our black flatware was a bold, modern choice that added some much-needed contrast to the place settings. Tables topped with gold sequined linens featured our Onyx Dinner Plates, Bloomington Gold-Rimmed Salad Plates, and Aurora Charcoal Glassware. The black dinner plates and smoky charcoal glassware added depth and drama to the table settings AND helped create a modern, sophisticated look. The combination of black and gold used throughout the table settings was a perfect match for the overall color palette, and the flatware’s modern design added to the event’s contemporary vibe!
Setting the Stage for New Year’s Eve: Bar and Shelving Rentals
In addition to an 18′ black slatted mega-bar in the main reception space, the couple set up one of our Blagden 12′ Black Slatted Bars for an additional drink station. They paired the bar with our Blagden 12′ Black Bar Back. Not only did the bar & bar back serve a practical purpose, they also added a modern, dramatic touch to the space. Set against the backdrop of Union Station’s incredible architecture, the Blagden caught the eye and made a big visual impact!
Embracing the Season: A Glam Seating Area Perfect for Winter Weddings
The couple’s color palette was a crucial element in achieving the modern glam vibe. For their seating rentals, they opted to incorporate pops of emerald, adding a seasonal touch to the otherwise monochromatic palette. For the first lounge grouping, they paired our Maverick Black Midcentury Sofa with our Avah Emerald Green Chairs. The second grouping consisted of our Ames Emerald Green Sofa and Diana Black Velvet Chairs. Each seating area included both green and black and white pillows, and the furniture was grouped around our sleek Arabica Black Bean Fluted Coffee Tables.
This couple clearly didn’t skimp on details! Every aspect of their celebration, from their modern chair selections to the luxurious table settings speaks to the modern meets glam vibe that was consistent throughout their big day. Planning a New Year’s Eve wedding can be daunting, but you too can achieve a look that feels true to both you and the holiday. Like this couple, don’t be afraid to mix contemporary elements with traditionally elegant details. The key lies in finding and focusing on what truly represents who you are as a couple. That’s your best bet for creating an unforgettable vibe that hits the right note to welcome in the New Year!
